What's a Pediatrician?
A pediatrician is a medical doctor who cares for children ranging from infancy to young
adults to the age of 21.
Pediatricians specialize in primary care. The focus on the whole child looking at
physical, mental, and social health. This includes everything from tracking a child's
growth, to watching interaction with family and friends -- anything that might affect
a child's overall health. Pediatricians must serve many needs since they are
dealing with patients who are continually growing and developing. A pediatrician's role is to
act as primary care physician, advocate, educator, counselor, and friend to each of their
patients.
